SERVICE: Joined as Cadet Basic Ellis in October, 1967 and earned the Earhart Award and the
grade of Cadet Captain, appointed to present rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 2003 SEP 29.

EDUCATION: Attended the University of New York at Fredonia NY (Majors; PSY/SOC) and the Community College of The Air Force at Maxwell AFB AL. (Aircraft Systems Maintenance Technology). Completed the US Marine Corps Basic School (ECI) and Amphibious Warfare School (ECI) at Quantico, Virginia. Completed the Squadron Officer’s School in 1977 and the Air Command Staff College in 1978.

CAP TRAINING: National Staff College 2003, Unit Commanders Course 2002, Corporate Learning Course 1986, Aerospace Education Program Senior Members 1984, Squadron Leadership School 1984, And Basic Officers Course (ECI 13) 1983, Regional Staff College 1978. Master Ratings: Professional Development 1985, Cadet Program 2002, and Aerospace Education 2005. Senior Rating in Administration 2002. Completed Professional Development Level 5 in 2005.

MILITARY SERVICE, AWARDS and DECORATIONS: Active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps (1972-1980), retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves on December 31, 2007 with 27 years of military service. Awards and Decorations: AF Commendation Medal with 1 bronze oak leaf, AF Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award with 4 bronze oak leaves, Navy Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Unit Commendation with silver "O" device, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with bronze star, Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with 1 silver and 1 bronze oak leaf, National Defense Medal with 2 bronze stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with bronze star, Iraq Service Medal with bronze star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, AF Expeditionary Ribbon with gold frame, AF Longevity Ribbon with 1 silver oak leaf, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with silver hour glass, mobility device, and numeral 2, Small Arms Expert Ribbon with bronze star, AF Training Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, RVN Civil Action Unit Citation, RVN Campaign Medal. PERSONAL: Married to the former Maria Theresa Mendoza Cruz of Dinalupihan, Bataan, Philippines. Children, Rosemary, Sean, Christi, and Todd Ellis, and son in law Chris Hansgen. Grand children Kai and Seth Hansgen and Godson Franz and Xavier Cruz.
